I can't help wanting to run an attachment style deck come EoW. Gold & Steel hurts so flood the board with cheap followers, more than they can kill, or up the cost of the followers.
Or should we focus on items?
Here is a quick mock up of a fate out of TMF with Scouts in mind... Strategies: 13 3 - Yojimbo Duty 3 - Sundering Strike 3 - Precision 3 - Grateful Reward 1 - A Game of Dice
Terrains: 9 3 Heart of Darkness 3 Thick Marsh 3 Heart of Rokugan
Attachments: 13 3 Ashigaru Recruites 3 Ashigaru Guards 3 Veteran Skirmishers 1 Ashigaru Elite 3 Clan Standard
That leaves 5 slots for your favorite actions lol...what do you think? I've also got a mock up of tacticians I'll post in a moment.

Quote: I've also got a mock up of tacticians I'll post in a moment. imo for this type of deck tacticians are a poor option. with your fate deck so light on battle actions you'll find that you're sitting there passing while your opponent dismantles your army. i think you have two options, both involving ignoring keywords: 1. simply play all the lion people with the best printed actions (koyama, nishijo, kaido, tsukasa, etc.) so that you have proactive actions to take during battle which will make it much harder for your opponent to just pick you apart. added benefit is that you will likely be able to play most of your printed actions since your guys are more protected by followers. downside is you have to spend more gold on people so you have less to spend on attachments. 2. simply play all the cheapest possible guys. in this version your people are just as expendable as your followers. you're trying to overwhelm them with a mass of bodies. you are a lot more likely to be able to have more guys/followers than they can deal with and should be able to clear provinces and dump your followers with ease. the down side is you're in battle praying your opponent doesn't have enough since you'll be playing what's left of your hand and that's about it. the way your deck is layed out right now, you don't have much room for keyword dependent cards anyway so you might as well ignore them.

I think if I went with the tactician route I would stick with EVD and swap out the terrains for 5 or 6 actions.

Just thinking about making a list of people we could use for TMF build most will be scouts but let me know what ya'll think.
Matsu Kaido tsukasa shinju yamahatsu shika exp kamina uehara Dairuko koyama Just a quick list of people im going to be experimenting with, building the fate deck is going to be the fun part but i don't think it should be to difficult.
might add tsuruchi yashiro if i go the more ranged attack rout.

might add tsuruchi yashiro if i go the more ranged attack rout. If i'm going the "scout" route then I'm probably going with the two Shika's for flow and Pride who doesn't suck with terrains. While the two boxables don't have any abilities they will work great with the ashigaru followers and farm gold scheme. If i'm looking at this kind of deck then I'm probably dropping Dairuko and Kamina.

so we've looked at some of the followers we could use if we wanted to go the follower rout. But what about items? Doing a quick look through here are some with potential. With the current big unit environment does this type of deck make sense? & if it does make sense, then with which of our peeps; tactician, scout, paragon, or mashup?
A Simple Yari Crimson Shadow Armor Researve Weapon Satoshi's Dual Warfans
except for teh SDW these are 3 force for 3 gold but are more or less blank. The 3 force means most of our non-box peeps will then be 6 or 7 force which puts them outside of the non-modified RA and Melee attacks.
Thoughts?

Thoughts? I think we should focus more on actions and followers with this box, the warfans are good but with the people/actions/ and followers should good enough, to attachment heavy can mean alot of dead cards. But there is plenty of time to experiment.

I think i'm going to give Gift Armor and Vigilant Riders a chance. I heard attachments that are hard to destroy are good
