Gohei was king of the hill in an environment where our SH gave +2F, along with two non-unique fate cards that gave 3F, a single fate card that stopped the early attack (Refugees) that was trumped by a follower, either a free one (Ashigaru) or a 3G or less one (Spearmen), whose 3 chi allowed him to dodge defenders with Superior Tactics. Oh, and four clans had a 5 province strength for the first attack. He got better in Time of the Void with Destiny Has No Secrets, Wedge, and Test of Courage.

Due to a convergence of force pumps and mobility, combined with squat to deal with a T2 attack without presence, he was powerful. Without that, he's just a BK-costed pud that's a little better than Toraji and crappier on defense. He isn't the roflstomper he used to be.

I dunno. Back in the day, you could only get him on turn one unless you flipped an Inheritance or Unexpected Allies for a 2nd body. Now you can get him and (potentially) a 4F attacker for box+BK turn 1 for 7F on your turn 2 attack. Any force bonus at all can at least threaten, if not bust, a province. Plus, we don't know what kind of presenceless D will make it into EE. He could be hoss again.
