SPOILER ALERT:
All the hapiness I felt when the Clan won the Blood of the Champion Tournament has fade away. It's only served to kill 3x Champions in what, 2-3 years? Also, I really wanted to forget all the Unicorn-Lion hate, but it seems the story team thinks otherwise... And what the hell is happening with the Ponies? The Khan is a Shinjo and the Champion is a Moto?

2 options : 1) Let it go, we are above this and will not let a stupid Shinjo re-start a feud between Lion-Unicorn... Mantis should feel our rage instead 2) Kick her ass Both options are tempting...

Right now, it appears that we lost a champ off-screen to something that was not revenge, making it a flat murder, which does call for retribution. Shigetoshi's son did not kill Shono. We're missing information that might make this more palatable, so please understand if we are a little irked. The running joke about Lion champions being expendable, especially with a few intolerable folks who love to gloat about the string of personal losses for Lion champs, is starting this off with less than a bang. This pairs very poorly with Shigetoshi's grace in victory over the Moto while they spat upon him and gloated over their own killings of Lions. Ming-shee feels that she has avenged her father. Great. In doing so, she killed a Lion Champ. Running gag continues with regards to Lion champion inferiority. But her feelings of fulfillment don't mesh with how that is normally accomplished or accounted.
Dairuko is starting off with the kind of conflict that Tsuko had, a complex about leadership being passed to her. Given the somewhat distasteful attitude that many newer Lion players (like those that weren't around for it) take towards her, this inspires me with more than a little wariness. I hated Nimuro. He fell into the "superman character" category. We lost him to a poison pill tournament victory. Our champs since have all had military success and personal failure. Dairuko is starting like Tsanuri, and she never managed to be well-liked by Lion players.
I grumble, but for lack of information. Incomplete opinion is currently pending dissatisfied. L5R is a community-centric game, and making it hard to be around Unicorn players makes the game distinctly less fun. We have little to be proud of.

The running gag about lion champ here is about "to stay alive, a Lion champion must go a Ronin way or a coward way" (mentioning Tamago Toturi Otemi). That's funny once, twice... But how many years since it started and we didn't have a brilliant long living arc-crossing champion?
