Brothers in Battle

0 g

Bushido Virtue • Duty

Battle/Open: Choose two or three of your performing Samurai: each of them has +1F and the ability, "Battle: Ranged 4 attack" while in an army with one or more of the others.

Even among former enemies, the bonds forged on the battlefield cannot easily be broken.

Auto include for early arc scouts and paragons, time will tell how long it remains that way.

Will be a fun add for the DS decks too.

Holy @#$%, dude! It's a Formation!

... Only you can play it as an Open
... and it doesn't give you a bonus action you play it in Battle
... and it is a Bushido Virtue

Honestly, not a bad trade-off, IMO. If you have 3 Samurai you can get the Force bonus of Charge! but also get 3 Ranged 4 Attacks out of the deal. That's amazing for 0 Gold. This is easily up there with My Life Is Yours in contention for the best Bushido Virtue of the Celestial Arc, and lays down an awesome foundation for Emperor Edition.

Kudos!

I really really like this card and if more Bushido Virtues are of this quality then I shall be a happy camper come EE. Has anyone seen cards to support Paragons directly?

But have you seen the limitation, only works while they are in an army with at least one more... so you can't then split them up... I am not so keen on it

My first reaction to seeing this card was "oh yeah!" Because, realistically, a Bushido Virtue like this simply doesn't exist in any form. Giving multiple Personalities a Force bonus (even a +1F bonus) can be huge, especially when you pair it with an actual ability becoming usable by those two to three Personalities; could set up a problem for the opponent that he just can't deal with fast enough. A very strong card.

However, on further thought, this card kind of worries me a little. Not because it's too powerful, and not because it's not powerful enough; rather, the fact that it has the Duty keyword makes me worry that the card Duty won't make it into EE. Now, before I get people telling me how that's a potential design idea, and thus probably won't make a difference, I understand that. It's just that Duty has been a huge part of pretty much every Lion Military deck I've made since the arc began. It's such a huge card in my decks that I'm not entirely sure what to do if I no longer have it available.

Now, I trust the DT on this one. I'm sure they've already thought of this fact. Maybe an effect like the one on the current Duty card won't exist in EE, but the reason it's so huge in current Military decks won't exist so much either. Maybe there'll be another card that has the same effect as Duty. Maybe they'll just reprint some of the older Bushido / Dark Virtues as is. Maybe not. I don't know, and I'm actually looking forward to finding out in EE. I'm just saying, that prospect has me kinda nervous.

Why would you split them up in the first place. I only generally split armies if I can get two sides with 3-4 units a piece or I'm doing an overwhelming Matsu Kasei / Countermove pull-off to clear an opposed rush for the smaller army. Armies with 1-2 units out of Lion general eat horribly attrition in all opposed battles and get stuffed so early they can't use their abilities.

No, my only real concern is that you need to use those abilities early on because removing two musketeers from the battlefield eliminates the +1F and Ranged 4 ability on the last one - at least until you use move-in tech or Will to return another "brother" to battle.

Great card for Lion and solid for just about anyone else spamming mostly naked Samurai to attack. Big dumb Crabs and Mantis / Unicorn fatty-followers need not apply.

It gives you three kill actions. He's got huge, sharp... er... He can leap about ... Look at the bones!

Seriously, pet the rabbit at your own risk. This one's not even hiding its teeth.

I wouldn't run a fate card that said "ranged 4." I'm not sure I'll run one that says "up to three Ranged 4's."

Maybe. We'll see.

In early EE this could be hell (on some boxables). Could be...

I'm not sure I agree. I think this can be game swinging against breeder, and might be exactly what we need to pick off multiple tokens before they can either boost them or kill off all defenders. What say you?

i say it's one more kill than claw and shell, supposing that they let you take all three ranged attacks without killing any of the three guys or pumping over 4f. plus claw and shell is a bow action on the defense against decks that laugh at a ranged 4 (like crab or kensai). basically claw and shell is a MUCH better meta card against breeder (i could give you some realistic play situations where claw and shell is significantly stronger) and is in my opinion more versatile in other matchups, however if you are REALLY worried about breeder you might consider running this on top of your 3x claw and shell and possibly your 3x my life is yours.

as i said before though, EE will be a different game. this card may be a monster in EE.

Cant see the rarity symbol clearly. I hope that its uncommon and not rare. It might get as ridiculously expensive as Claw and Shell.
