I get about 10 account creation things a day, most of which are spammers. If you create an account here, please make a post soon after. That way I can just delete all the accounts with less than 1 post and clean things up every once in a while.

Just as an update to this topic, I've adjusted the registration process. I cleared the queue, as well. If you know someone who previously had problems registering, go ahead and nudge them towards trying again. I'll do what I can to keep up with the requests.

Note that registration attempts with e-mail addresses that appear randomly generated, or that show up on any of a number of addresses that have been reported as spam distributors, don't get approved. If you are trying to register and think that your e-mail address might fall into one of these two categories, drop me a line as you register and I'll keep a look out for it.

If your login name appears to be more complicated than an abbreviated organic chemistry nomenclature, there's a chance I wont bother checking the e-mail. The current tally appears to be 40-60 registration attempts per day.

Update: I need to emphasize that if you think your login name might be mistaken for a bot attempt, that you send the e-mail preemptively, not after the fact. I've gotten too many e-mails about activation requests for a registration that had long since fallen to the broom because it couldn't be differentiated from something generated by dropping a cat on a keyboard.
