For AllStars - definitely Shamate Keep. Repeatable send (yourself) home is too precious to swap it for terrain-jutsu.

But terrain-jutsu with TMF offers new opportunities.

I think its clear that there is potential for a better lion scout deck here... That said, its hardly setting the world on fire tier one equivalent (scorp para, crab scout, dragon ken)... Likely that itll lead to a mid tier two deck rather than a naff tier three deck?

Anyone else been a bit disappointed with all of the previews so far? Compare and contrast to Second City for example...

Second city is the end of an arc set, this is the begining set, there is always going to be a drop in overall power.

You are right, this could be Lion superfriends. With the RA6 dude, you could run quite a few terrains.

Including the mantis scout, we now have 3x3+1 scout personalities with kill on... Not sure that plus this box is yet enough though... Gozu seems abusable with this box though...

A propos flavor...

Do you know how wargame simulations were made in late Soviet Union? Simulation of invasion from Warsaw Pact on NATO countires started with drawng a map of region in question (Central and Western Europe) na training field, in 1:1 scale. Then... ;)

if your opponent has terrain destruction, and they bust your first terrain, you have traded nothing (since you drew off that terrain) for a card in his hand or a holding. the possibility of multiple terrains opens up some silly possibilities that you are actually fairly likely to be able to pull off in the end game (when your opponent is likely to have burned much of his terrain meta). is all that worth playing it over one of our other strongholds? i don't know yet. only time will tell.

one parting thought to leave you with: this is not just a scout box. tacticians + fields of mercy + white shore plain seems hilarious.

I don't know...I just don't know. There seem to be some great possibilities but as others have said terrain destruction ruins any combo you may be shooting for, so your deck really has to be built with "1 terrain per battle" strategy; which of course negates this sh's usefulness. I can see this being the box for tactascouts.

One note...how will the "anti-draw" cards in this set effect this deck and evd?

This draw will bypass it because they target actions rather than traits.

Terrain destruction should not ruin this deck's day. Not when a reaction speed terrain was printed.

For the other box, I would have run 2 Heart of Darkness and 3 Ancient Feud.

For this box, I would run 3 Heart of Darkness, two Thick Marsh, and three Deep Snows. That would be my starting point.

Maybe this is clear to everyone else, but not to me... to me the box says that the first time every turn that a terrain does it's first action (usually playing the terrain) you get to draw a card... which to me says this happens for each terrain, but maybe I'm misinterpreting that and it only means once a turn period.

After the first time each turn one of your Terrain actions resolves: Draw a card.

You will only get the card draw the first time you play a terrain each turn.

...god I love this card. Yes, there are things that Golden Plains has advantages in; Lion Scouts will have a harder time getting Reconnaisance, which can trigger some Strategy cards useful for Scout builds (but not the Lion Clan Scouts). However, I think the ability to play a terrain, each battle, that completely ignores the fact that there's another Terrain in play, will be a big advantage. Also, it doesn't HAVE to use Scouts as a basis, you can use any Lion schtick, including "best and brightest."

Well, at least Flooded Pass gives you a 37 card fate deck out of this box.

I can't see running it over any of the existing boxes in the current card pool. That's not a really big deal for me, though. I just say "meh" and move on to the much-needed 6GC guys and people with printed kill actions.

I really like the possibilities playing 2x Terrains (or more) per Battle this SH can offer. And the synergy this has with our scouts it's pretty good, and I would say it's even better than with the Golden Plains.

After giving TMF a second thought, I found one huge advantage that TGP has: You always have a terrain in play. Imagine a situation without any terrains in hand. No Shinju or Well Prepared, worsened Tsukasa, Yamahatsu and Pride in addition to the loss of reconnaissance and therefore worsening Strategic Strike and the Mantis scout. Imo TGP will stay the scout box to play.

Exactly Bihanna: This deck merely facilitates the construction of Lion decks that can run higher numbers of terrains. It's got nothing to do with Lion Scouts per se. If EE sees future printing of a number of excellent terrains then a military deck out of this box would seem to be a good idea...
